The 5.4.5 software update for Kindle Paperwhite 2 introduces some new features worthy of mention. It starts from the new mode Pan-and-zoom for PDFs to be used to preview “deep” of the document without having to open it, it goes out of sync ebook reader on the last page read on any other device used with Kindle account, and you get to what I consider the best of the three: the possibility of receiving an extract in ebook while you wait for the delivery of a paper book.
Shipments Amazon, at least in the main centers , rarely more than 3 days (Rome, with Prime , I always have everything in 48 hours) but the order a book and having to wait to be able to read, browse or just put in the library, is one of the reasons that sometimes makes us prefer its digital version. With the new system, Amazon sends a free excerpt of the book just purchased on Kindle Paperwhite, and usually it comes to a good number of pages, a few chapters, not just a few lines.
Begin to read before delivery
If you ordered a paper book and they’re waiting for the delivery, you can start reading immediately, adding a free extract to your Kindle library. After the software update, you can download extracts from the Cloud tab of Kindle Paperwhite, in addition to other devices and reading apps already support this feature. The 5.4.5 firmware for Kindle Paperwhite latest version (not the previous one) is distributed from Monday 21st, so just activate the connection WiFi to receive it and start the installation. Alternatively, you can download the package from the support site .bin Amazon (177 Mb are not few: attention to your data plan), copy it via USB to the player and then start the update from there.
A few days ago also readers Kobo has been updated (Aura, Aura HD and Glo) with a new firmware. He also started talking about a new eReader ex-Canadian company, a model created using some of the technologies that was the division of Sony eReader. No news, however, on Kindle Paperwhite 3, but experience teaches us that August is the best time to announce and discuss new ebook reader.
