It was announced yesterday the new initiative launched by Amazon to make it accessible throughout the world of the digital books market. The project is called Kindle Reading Fund , and will be implemented in collaboration with several non-profit organizations such as Worldreader , which for years books free port in the homes of families living in countries of development. As stated by Amazon, the organization has managed, in just six years, to make reading accessible to more than 4 million people. The e-commerce company has therefore decided to join again Worldreader. In the past they had collaborated in a project in Kenya which reached about 500,000 people, bringing e-books in 61 libraries in the nation.
Amazon plans to donate thousands of readers e-reader and tablet Kindle Fire – and of course millions of e-books – to nations in the developing world. Also continue donating these devices to students and teachers, and will work with the National PTA (Parent Teacher Association) to involve entire families in the reading program. With these initiatives continues the race to donations from Amazon, which have already benefited from some non-profit organizations and hospitals such as the Seattle Children’s , Mary’s Place, the Rainiers Scholars and Wellspring Family Services.
spokeswoman for Amazon said: “always our dream is to make every book available to all our users in less than 60 seconds. But we realize that not everyone has access to the readings they want or they need. That is why today we are happy to announce the Kindle Reading Fund , a program that tries to make the books available to developing communities through digital reading. ” A project truly commendable, surely provides a respectable budget. However, Amazon has refused to disclose how much money was made available for the fund.
