Jeff Bezos surprise on twitter: “Attention readers! Our new top of the range Kindle is almost ready. 8 th generation. We will tell you more next week.” And here comes the confirmation of Voyage Kindle 2, the model that last July we expected for November 2015, still uncertain technically but hardly different than actual size.
Assuming that the CEO’s tweet Amazon is reported to an ebook reader and not a tablet Fire (would not write “reader” and would not have written Kindle), we might have a 6-inch SoC i.MX 7 Dual Core and then very faster than the current generation in all that concerns the management of UI, pages, advanced options such as underline and online search. There was talk of a Kindle Voyage 2 with animations and effects, more similar to the experience of a typical tablet, combined with a cover with solar panel for charging the internal battery.
It is difficult, however, to imagine a new-generation E-Ink panel to replace current paper, both for quality and for clarity, but we may have novelty in lighting system with a temperature control from neutral, warm or cold. To understand, finally, whether there will be an update for even basic Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite. Last November there was talk of a new ultralight economic Kindle, “the lightest among eReader Amazon” to replace the current baseline. We will go back when they are online more details.
