Sony abandons the e-book readers: the Kindle has won – Tom’s Hardware

->

Sony Reader PRS-T3 will be the ultimate e-book reader of the Japanese giant. The company has confirmed that the model available in Europe since last fall conclude the series and the commitment in the field of e-book . In short, discontinued production and sales while stocks last.

Sony Reader PRS-T3

Although Sony has been a pioneer with e-ink reader, thanks to the Sony Librie of 2004, he co-developed the first 6-inch E Ink, which is supported by the first and combined Epub e-ink, touch and front lighting for the PRS-700 in 2008, the season is come to an end.

Decided to give way to competition and surrender to Kindle Paperwhite , an established leader in the segment. In terms of hardware you are always well protected but the Sony Reader Store and PC software did not bring the expected results. Also difficult to justify some price lists, especially with the battle started between Kindle and Nook.

Farewell Sony reader; shame about the competition in the market.
