Amazon offers Kindle and promotes reading in developing countries – QuiFinanza

Amazon offers Kindle , the most popular e-reader among those who love to read digitally. Just a few days ago, on August 24, the US firm has claimed its newest project called Kindle Reading Fund. Born with the aim to promote reading and simultaneously make digital more accessible worldwide. The intention is to give a large number of Kindle Fire tablet and millions of e-books to countries developing in collaboration with various organizations, including Worldwidereader, with whom he has already worked in the past.

Recently, he has indeed worked with Amazon to LEAP 2.0 project, through which as many 61 libraries in Kenya and about 500,000 of its inhabitants were able to benefit from the e-book. The Worldwidereader, too, can boast of having made sure that, over the past six years, a large number of books has reached more than 4 million people. These are impressive numbers, given that in some countries the culture is not promoted, and unfortunately today’s youth are increasingly less interested in reading. Just think of dozens of libraries that are closing each year.

Amazon promotes reading and just like for Worldwidereader, it is not the first time and not the last. The company has given, and continues to give, thousands of e-books of all kinds to students and teachers. In collaboration with the National PTA also is working on a project that sees the involvement of parents in a reading program named Family Reading Experience. Family support is very important in the education of children, so the hope is that this initiative from levying a great success. Younger children are the future and, fortunately, Amazon knows this well and brings a considerable help.

If this is not enough, simply mention some of the other bodies to which Amazon offers the Kindle. We are the Seattle Children’s Hospital, Mary’s Place, Rainier Scholars and many more hospitals, group homes and nonprofit associations. Amazon promotes reading and, according to a spokesman, the dream of the company is to make sure that the books and the benefits that come to lead people as possible, including those of developing countries. Windows 10 Anniversary Update , the full-bodied update released earlier this month introduced several new features and improvements, but it seems that during the test phase has escaped a few bugs too. After the freeze problems and the failure of the webcam, some users have reported the appearance of the infamous BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death), when a Kindle is connected to the USB ports of PC.

The bug has been reported that both Microsoft Community on the Amazon forum. In practice, the PC crashes, showing the note blue screen, if you connect to the USB ports (2.0 or 3.0) or the Kindle Paperwhite Kindle Voyage. This makes it impossible to transfer ebooks and reload the device. The Redmond company has confirmed the problem and issue a fix in the coming days, perhaps before the September Patch Tuesday. One user noticed that the BSOD is not displayed if the Kindle is already connected to the USB port before the computer.

Microsoft has not had much luck even with the cumulative update KB3176934 of 23 August ( build 14393.82). The update improves various components of Windows 10, including PowerShell. Unfortunately someone forgot (!) To insert a .mof file in the package, so the DSC function (Desired State Configuration) is not usable. In this case, the temporary solution is to uninstall the update with this PowerShell command:

wusa / uninstall / kb: 3176934

Microsoft has promised distribution a fix for August 30, probably within the build 14393.103 released a few hours for Insider Windows users.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update: problems with the Kindle and PowerShell – Hardware upgrade.it

Windows 10 Anniversary Update, the new major update of the Windows 10 operating system deployment from the beginning of August, in addition to a large number of innovations, has also brought with it some bug quite relevant. After reports of the problems encountered with the use of webcams, which will begin to be correct as of September (see. Previous article), are added to the list two new bugs affecting the access to Kindle devices and the ‘ use of PowerShel the , the command-line shell and scripting language that Microsoft recently made open source.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update and crash with eReader Kindle

The first problem can occur by connecting a Kindle eReader, as the Paperwhite or Voyage, the PC upgraded to Windows 10 Anniversary Update: the link determines the system crash resulting in the display of the classic blue screen. After the first reports, Microsoft stepped in releasing the following statement to ZDnet:

We are aware of a problem with a small number of Kindle Paperwhite and Voyager that can cause unexpected behavior when they are connected to a Windows 10 device after installing the Anniversary Update. We are currently working on an update to resolve this problem.

The problem, according to Microsoft’s statement, it seems to be limited to a small number of eReader Amazon and, for the moment, are not mentioned other models besides the Paperwhite and the Voyager. In fact, until the release of the corrective patch transfers dall’eReader eBook to your PC could be complicated enough for some users, as suggested by the notes contained in the support forum. Despite various attempts to establish the connection between the Kindle and PC – even changing the USB port and trying to restart the system – the result is the same: blue screen. For the moment, there is no workaround provisional pending official patch.

PowerShell: DSC (Desired State Configuration) and Implicit Remoting not working on Windows 10 AU build 14393.82

The latest Windows 10 update to build 14393.82 Anniversary Update – introduced in cumulative security update KB3176934 – has led to the malfunctioning of a fundamental element of PowerShell, or the DSC (Desired State Configuration) whose resources may be used to manage and configure a set of computer automatically.

Microsoft again claims to be aware of the problem and clarified the reasons that have caused related to the failure to enter the .mof file in the latest build of Windows 10 AU. As a result, all transactions carried out with DSC will return the error “ Invalid Property .”

Because of the absence of a track in the latest build, Microsoft adds, is not functioning even the ‘ Implicit Remoting , a feature that lets you run PowerShell commands in a remote session rather and locally.

The solution proposed by Microsoft to remedy the problems described by the time they are only palliatives, waiting for a corrective update that will be available from August 30 next Specifically,

  • If you are using DSC by or on any Windows client to uninstall the update by running the command wusa / uninstall / kb: 3176934 of PowerShell ( with privileges amministratorie)
  •

  • If you are using WSUS does not approve the
  •

Bug quite serious for those who use PowerShell who managed to overcome the phase of breakthrough also in public form test with the collaboration of Insiders and certain error – the failure to include two files – which could, perhaps, They are easily avoided.
