Firmware Update for Kindle Paperwhite 2013, but nothing Bookerly – HDblog (Blog)

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite will start shipments of 3 in a few days – and at times will even our review. In the meantime, the company has found the time to update the firmware of the copies of the first generation. E ‘in the distribution software v5.6.11 for Kindle Paperwhite 2012 , but who has not yet received a notification can download the .bin and proceed with the installation manual (link at end of article).

The new firmware does not have the latest software functions Amazon: does not have the font Bookerly , the UI changes and improvements to the print shop. These items will remain exclusive Paperwhite 2015 for a few weeks – before moving to PW2 and Voyage. But the update in question is still important because it approaches PW1 to PW2.

We support a Family Library , for ebook sharing between Amazon account of the same family, the support Kindle FreeTime Unlimited (a specific version of Membership Unlimited for teens and children), the integration of Word Wise , several improvements for X-Ray , and new document management and cloud Goodreaders , the community of readers bought by Amazon in 2014 and proposed as a real social network fans – useful for advice on what to read.

The firmware update v5.6.11 is a full-bodied and interesting, but there is still a good idea buy a newer model (recommended own the last in 2015) if you own a Paperwhite of that generation.
