Amazon Kindle Fire 7 HDX - Everything Android

HDX Amazon Kindle Fire 7 is the new 7-inch tablet from Amazon with a top and a hardware customization quite marked by the manufacturer. The Kindle Fire has always stood out for their excellent quality / price ratio, and this is no exception, but step by step analyzing all the details of this device.

Video Review

Unboxing

The contents of the package is the classic of the tablet, fortunately, Amazon has decided to add the power supply from the wall that was not present in the previous version, we also find a MicroUSB-USB cable and the usual manuals quick use.

Hardware

hardware Kindle Fire HDX is the best that you can find on the market today: the CPU is Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 , which are now on most devices top of the range of the last period, operating at a frequency of 2.2 GHz with 4 cores in parallel of course, the Ram is 2 GB , the Adreno 330 GPU while the cuts of internal memory are 16/32/64 GB , obviously not expandable. The display unit is 7 inch with a resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels and a consequent definition very high for a tablet. Unfortunately we do not have a version of the Tablet 3G/LTE, ergo it is only available in Access.

Design of the tablet has been renovated over the previous version, the back is in fact made up of two different materials, it is always polycarbonate but treated differently: the strip containing the speakers is glossy, while the rest of the device on the back is slightly rubberized logo Amazon in plain sight. The weight is quite low and generally you are unable to use well without tiring, the grip is also good thanks to the board as the slightly rubberized back. Only comment to make is that relative to the frames, still too present with respect to the diagonal of the display, as well as the previous version.

F4

Doing a quick tour physical of the device, we do not find anything on the top, on the left the 3.5 mm jack at the bottom we find no port or button while On the right is the MicroUSB port. In fact, the rear side edge is slightly oblique, and it is there that we find the keys to power on / standby / off switch and volume rocker, a little ‘awkward to reach.

F6

On the front there is of course the 7 “screen with nothing, so no physical key, of course, with the presence of the light sensor.

Display

Display is certainly one of the strengths of this tablet, the 7-inch diagonal and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels , resulting in a definition talbet a very high par. The color rendition is very close to reality, only the blacks are slightly off, but after all it is an IPS. Also the brightness is good, in fact we were able to use the device even under direct sunlight without any problems. Overall we can say that we have tested one of the best displays currently in circulation on a 7-inch tablet Android.

Audio

speakers are another strong point of the Kindle Fire 7 HDX. Are positioned in the rear, at the portion of cover oblique, accordingly even if the tablet are standing on a smooth surface we can feel good notifications, and while listening to music, the sound is even amplified, according to the material of the surface itself. The quality itself is great, a good balance of highs and lows and a power top with regard to existing tablet. Of course all the audio along with the display are the two fundamental qualities of the new Kindle Fire.

F5

Battery

amperage of the battery is unfortunately not stated by Amazon, but the ‘autonomy was quite satisfactory. We need to make a premise: it is very difficult to assess the real autonomy of a tablet, because even more than smartphones varies greatly compared to the daily use made of it. Our use with this device is mainly focused on browsing the web, listening to music and gaming, in a more or less intense during the day, the device came up to 2 days of battery life, then we can be quite satisfied. Obviously, if you use it in a less intense will last less, it all depends on how you use it, but in principle the battery is up to the task.

F8

Software

Software on which this is based is Fire tablet OS in its new version 3.1 , behind which lurks Android 4.2 Jelly Bean . Amazon, as always, in a very marked customize your tablet, both in terms of the interface that features real, starting with the fact that we do not have the Google Play Store but only the Amazon App Shop: yes This is a fairly well-stocked supermarket, but with a much lower amount of apps compared to Google and the price much higher.

F7

Fluency and Interface

fluidity is generally the highest level, you can switch from one application to another without any problems, and also the management of applications on the cloud is locally occurs very quickly, without any type of problem. The interface is completely different from that of Android on the home as soon as we unlock the tablet we find ourselves in front of a screen with recently used applications, arranged in a chronological flow, and down the list of all applications. Through the upper tab also, we can easily switch from one card to another device, among which we Apps, Music, Videos, Pictures, Documents and more.

OS 3.1 Features and Fire

center notifications contains the toggle Quick longer used, among which is that relating to the “do not disturb”, very useful and customizable: in the moment where we activate Verrano disabled the notifications in a certain way, only with applications that we decide in the settings menu. With Fire OS 3.1 has been introduced the ability to dictate text by voice, making your print via Wireless and several minor optimizations. For the rest, we still have special functions in the settings menu, such as that relating to Parental Control and all the management related to the synchronization of our Amazon account.

Multimedia Contents

Amazon tablet has traditionally been oriented to the use of multimedia content such as Music, Video, Photo, Books, Documents and everything that comes to mind. From this point of view the device in question behaves great, especially if we consider the well-stocked store to buy music and books in Kindle format , being able to have everything synchronized with the cloud. Photos and videos can be saved locally or viewed from the cloud, where it can also be loaded automatically from other devices, by simply installing the application Amazon Cloud Drive from Google Play Store.

Gaming

Gaming with this device was great, without any kind of problem with any game we’ve tested. Given that non-expandable 16 GB are not many to install many games, we still have the option of storing data on the cloud and download them as necessary. The games tested are many, some of them have shown a special focus that you find at the end of this section, but in general they all performed excellently. Asphalt 8, Thor the Dark World, and FIFA 14 are all games that put stress CPU and GPU of the tablet, in this case, the device did not bat an eyelid and is failed to provide an optimal gaming experience. Within the focus that you find below will also show the useful, albeit very expensive, Origami cover that Amazon has designed for this purpose.

Browser

Browser stock Amazon called Silk, and offers the ability to manage certain functions more or less advanced, including for example the ability to turn the entire screen which can be convenient and useful in certain situations. Regarding the fluidity, even in this case we are on optimal levels, the only one to be able to do precisely relates to the loading of the contours on the sites heavier of the Web, but nothing particular, navigating always in a very pleasant.

In conclusion

HDX Amazon Kindle Fire 7 is a great device with regard to the quality / price ratio. The performances are top notch considering the hardware, and the price is very low. The negatives can be searched in the presence of the Amazon App Shop in-place of the Play Store, and the inability to install it without rooting carry out operations. For anyone who uses the tablet for the enjoyment of multimedia content, and does not seek special customization features or not use requirements relating to applications only on the Play Store, for sure we are talking about a device to take seriously. The price is 229 Euros for the 16 GB version with advertisements within the lockscreen, adding, 15 EUR will be able to eliminate them, while for 40 euro more we can grab hold of the versions 32 or 64 GB.
