Amazon unveils Kindle Voyage, the ereader 300 ppi – EBOOKREADER Italy

Amazon has officially unveiled Kindle Voyage , the seventh generation of Kindle devices E Ink (eink) specifically dedicated to reading. Amazon has always improves your Kindle in order to enable the reader to focus only on the content, so forget when reading the device, its physical characteristics and technical equipments. And according to the efforts of Amazon and the technical American’s new Kindle Voyage goes further in this direction, because the main improvements involve the reading experience overall, thanks to an improved screen and an innovative (and ambitious) page change.

proceed with order.
The Voyage uses a screen 6-inch E-Ink Paper , anti-glare, Touch front lighting and resolution of 300 ppi , the biggest ever owned a Kindle electronic ink (the 2nd generation Paperwhite boasts 212 ppi). Even higher resolution than the new Kobo Aura H2O which stops at 256 ppi, but only because it has a larger screen 6.8 inches (resolution of both devices is equal to 1140 × 1080 pixels). The Voyage of the screen is mounted flush with the frame as the tablet. The first e-reader with this design feature to be introduced to the market had been Kobo Aura.

On the Kindle Voyage a Sensor (located on the top edge to the right) is able to automatically adjust the brightness of the screen according to the ambient light in a manner similar to what has been happening time on the tablet. In the case of prolonged reading in the dark or in dimly lit environments, however, it activates a mechanism that progressively reduces the brightness of the screen so as not to attack the eye which in the meantime has become accustomed to the dark condition of the environment.

The page change can be made by the two sensors on the sides of the screen

new change page , which Amazon has dubbed PagePress , want to animate the electronic book: to advance the reading will be sufficient to press lightly on the sides of the frame of the screen and the Voyage in turn respond with a “feeling” ( feedback ) tactile. Pressure level and intensity of the response can be tailored to suit (and also imagine muted completely.)

Who is following us for some time know that we have always enjoyed mechanical changes page even on devices with touch screen because l ‘ reader’s attention remains on the book. How many have had the opportunity to use or are still using a Bookeen Cybook Odyssey or a Sony PRS-T2 (ie two devices good but outdated) will have appreciated the buttons on either side of the screen or on the lower frame useful for the page change.
PagePress years later refers precisely this idea and therefore can not make us happy. Probably many of you will be a factor on which to ponder the choice between the Kindle and other devices Voyage, in particular Kobo Aura H2O that today is the true antagonist of this new Amazon for technical equipment and price. For our part, we find that Amazon just presenting PagePress as a stylish news confirms – again – a clever marketing expert.

The technical equipment is completed by a storage space of 4 GB which is used to store a thousand books , WiFi connectivity (standard on the entire Kindle family) and optional 3G, a weight of 180 grams with a thickness of just 7.6 mm that make the Kindle Voyage less cumbersome than ever.

For the moment the Kindle Voyage in the United States is in delivery starting from October 21.
Price varies overseas from $ 199 for the WiFi version with advertising to the $ 289 WiFi + 3G without ads. The release in Europe sees Germany with delivery from November 4. The German price varies from 189 € for the version with WiFi advertising 249 euro WiFi + 3G without ads.

For Italy we wait a few weeks late, but there is no doubt that the Amazon will advance in stock for Christmas.
