PayPal, goodbye Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Kindle – Webnews

PayPal announced the full divestiture of its app for Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Kindle Fire . An obvious choice for many verses, for others not without consequences. In fact, these three platforms from several parables, but in all three cases, these are solutions that take up a minimum market share internationally.

Windows Phone has lived his horse upward flight of the passage of Nokia in the hands of Microsoft, but later the Lumia series has seen the collapse of its market share following the decrease of the models on the market and by virtue of a firm to the pole operating system: group of Redmond is now planning a raise probably scheduled to start in 2017 and this time the priorities have been moved elsewhere. BlackBerry was released by also favors the business world, giving all their empire to iOS and Android worlds. Kindle Fire , which uses an ad hoc version of Android does not, however yet broken through and today its shares are all on the tablet (thus occupying only a minimal market share, not supported by the failed project in the smartphone arena).

as explained by Joanna Lambert on the group’s blog, the decision it is linked to the will to concentrate investments only when actually required, leaving the areas in which the transactions conveyed not motivate enough the use of human resources. While describing how painful the choice, PayPal note that Windows Phone users can still take advantage of the ‘ add-in for Outlook.com or vehicle transactions by logging onto paypal.com Web site; BlackBerry users can instead use the BBM system , so they can continue to count on the service in the absence of a dedicated application.

The abandonment weight is especially heavily on Windows Phone: the Microsoft platform, which right on the app and on its app store to date has lost the game against the two Apple and Google rulers, suffered a further blow, and users will now deprived of one of the best-known app (also though probably not too used). Microsoft is becoming more urgent the advent of Surface Phone or at least decisions that really are able to take advantage of the new Windows 10 and impose once and for all Universal App.

the same time the announcement of the abandonment the three smaller platforms, PayPal is preparing the ground for the next upgrade for iOS and Android platforms: between 3 and 30 June users running older versions must upgrade to the version 6.0 .
