Kindle Paperwhite, 2013: Amazon Italy starts to ship - Eeevolution

Into Amazon Italy began deploying Kindle Paperwhite 2013, and does so with a day in advance. The availability of the new ebook reader is scheduled for tomorrow 9 October but the company has already sent the first samples. Among them, there’s one for me too.

Into the second-generation Kindle Paperwhite looks a lot like the previous model, the only new aesthetic is the Amazon logo on the rear panel. Screen and software are changing. The new model uses chart display, the latest generation of e-paper screen E-Ink, evolution of Pearl, whiter and better contrast (+50%) thanks to a new electronic ink composition. Not only that, when combined with another E-Ink technology, namely Regal, the chart display will allow a page break much faster (+25%) than in the past. For more technical details about this technology read: How to E-Ink paper improves the new Kindle.

Into Paperwhite 2013 is the only ebook on the market to use E-Ink paper but this is not the only novelty introduced by Amazon. It also changes the lighting system, the front light that he had satisfied all of the previous model (enough to force the company to publish a note clarifying the type: “ok, we are still not well.”). The new test should be yellowish halos. Again, Amazon has updated software, improved synchronization features with the app and its cloud space and introduced innovations in the management of the dictionary. The whole UI is also faster.

Into It remains to be seen whether the new model is worth the upgrade. Those who already own a Kindle Paperwhite can benefit from E-Ink paper and the rest, or the technical innovations introduced are not worth an extra expense? That ‘s what I will try to tell you in the next video review.
