Windows 10 Anniversary Update: the BSOD with the Kindle – Want …

Windows 10 Anniversary Update, the full-bodied update that was released at the beginning of the month, has introduced several new features and improvements, but it seems that during the testing phase of having missed some bugs too. After the freeze, and the malfunction of the webcam, some users have reported the appearance of the infamous BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death), when it is connected to a Kindle to the USB ports of the PC.

The bug has been reported is on the Microsoft Community that the forum Amazon. In practice, the PC crashes, showing the note blue screen, if you connect to the USB ports (2.0 or 3.0) the Kindle Paperwhite or the Kindle Voyage. This makes it impossible to transfer ebooks and charge the device. The Redmond company confirmed the problem and will issue a fix in the coming days, perhaps before the Patch Tuesday of September. A user has noticed that the BSOD is not shown if the Kindle is already connected to the USB port prior to booting the computer.

Microsoft has not had much luck even with the update rollup KB3176934 of 23 August (build 14393.82). The update enhances several components of the Windows 10, including PowerShell. Unfortunately, someone has forgotten (!) to insert a file .MOF in the package, then the feature DSC (Desired State Configuration) is not usable. In this case, the temporary solution is to uninstall the update with this PowerShell command:

wusa /uninstall /kb:3176934

Microsoft has promised the distribution of a fix to the 30th of August, probably inside the build 14393.103 released in a few hours for Windows users Insider.
